Both designs were created by an Icelandic-American artist who also served in the U.S. military before returning to Iceland.

Military veterans, and friends and supporters of the Tribe: save the date from 7 November to 15 November.

A few of us will be on site beginning 2 November, when the builders and materials arrive from Connecticut. They will need several days to work without Tribe assistance before the larger effort begins. From there, the Hall and Boat Shelter raising will build into something unlike anything most people have ever seen. The hall is being first constructed and fitted in Connecticut - it is a timber frame structure of our design with the builders, and the architectural plans come from Shelter Institute of Maine at considerable expense and based on our vision and are proprietary for our use.

7 November will be a Viking Day for Veterans unlike any other.
Veteran guests will attend free for the day. That day will include Hall building, sailing on our Viking boat Sae Ulfr, archery, and feasting through the early evening. Veterans who choose to remain that night for blot, sumbl, and camping will need to pay the camping fee, but the day itself will be free.

For Tribe members, this will be a working period of coming and going from 5–15 November. That span will also include Winternights near the beginning of the period. There will be many activities, but make no mistake: this is a Hall raising. There will be a volunteer fee to help cover lunch and dinner, and more details on that will follow. At this point, the only free portion of the event will be for veteran guests on the day of 7 November.

This is going to be an event unlike any other in Heathenry: the raising of a true Viking Hall that will serve not only veterans through our charitable work, but also military Heathens as a gathering place, a shelter in inclement weather, a mead hall, and in the winter months, a place to store and maintain our boat, Sae Ulfr.

The Hall itself will be extraordinary:

NEW OWT SWEATPANTS HAVE ARRIVED

The new Odin’s Warrior Tribe sweatpants are in, and they look outstanding.

This first run was based primarily on tribe member pre-orders, and those will be available at Sigrblót for pickup by the members who ordered them.

After Sigrblót, these will also be made available in the store.

Current variants include:

Each version carries two Tribe graphics:

* Left leg: the Tribe trademarked bind rune in white, combining Tiwaz and Sowulo, which also forms the name Sigtyr, one of Odin’s names
* Right leg: the Tribe motto in red Younger Futhark runes — “Ok nefna Tysvar Tý” (Victory) — from the Sigrdrífumál, meaning to call twice the name of Tyr for victory

These came out very well, and I think they are going to get attention both from tribe members and from others who see them.

THE KUKSA RITE – ODIN’S WARRIOR TRIBE -A NEW CHILD OF THE TRIBE

In Odin’s Warrior Tribe, we do not merely mark the birth of a child—we forge her bond to our sacred path.

In the ancient tradition of the Sámi people, each Tribe Kuksa cup is hand-carved from the birch wood of the North—a vessel of lineage, honor, and ancestral strength. These are not ordinary gifts. They are heirlooms of identity, bestowed only upon children born into, adopted into, or fostered into our Tribe and the Society of Gungnir. They are a gift from the Tribe.

A new child—a girl—has been born into the Tribe. Her Kuksa cup is plain when first shown, but it is then prepared in sacred fashion. Around the rim the Chieftain burned three Elder Futhark runes, specially selected by the parents to guide and guard the child’s path. For this child, Today, the Chieftain also burned into the Kuksa the child’s name and birthdate, though these are obscured from public view out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Tribe’s bindrune—combining Tiwaz and Sowulo—is also burned into the wood by the hand of the Chieftain himself.

Then there is a Galdr rite by the Chieftain, calling upon the Aesir and Vanir to watch over the child.

The ritual concludes when the parents themselves present the Kuksa to their child—whether privately at their hearth or before the gathered Tribe in a Naming Rite or stand-alone ceremony. In keeping with Norse and ancient Germanic tradition, the Kuksa may be used during feast days and holds an honored place on the family altar or mantel, especially at Yule, where it reminds all present of the child’s bond to the gods, the kin, and the Tribe.

These cups are not for outsiders. They are not for sale. They are gift of the Tribe. The Chieftain has prepared many cups over the years probably over 50.

This is not mere ceremony. This is the forging of fate. A living sigil of love, protection, duty, and continuity—carried through the life of a child who will one day hold it and know:

Tribe Weekend Recap – Virginia and Minnesota

On Saturday, Jan 31, we held a powerful Pub Moot at White Bear Meadery — hosted by Tribe members with five strong prospects in attendance.

Then on Sunday, many of the Tribe gathered at the Chieftain’s home for sacred milestones:

• Two oaths were sworn — a Ukrainian shieldmaiden and artist who’s seen the front lines and a U.S. Navy veteran, firefighter, and farmer.

• A U.S. Army veteran & law enforcement officer was awarded the Noble Order of Týr for merit and service to the Tribe.

We feasted like warriors: spare ribs, roast goat, venison, borscht, pasta salad, gnocchi, Bundt cakes, and more.

Voices rose in song: “Santiana,” “Over the Hills,” “Thor’s Song,” “Farewell Nova Scotia,” and “My Mother Told Me” in Old Norse.

Brotherhood, family, sacred vows — a weekend to remember.
